Lilliput Libraries

We're hoping they'll become focal neighbourhood spots - a bit like the old corner dairies!

Lilliput Libraries are tiny community libraries scattered around Dunedin's suburbs. They're sited on their Guardians fence line and  filled with books which are free for people to take and keep, pass on, or return to the original or another Lilliput Library. Readers are encouraged to pop a replacement book in the Library so they are self-stocking with top ups by their Guardians!

Lilliput Libraries is a Poems in the Waiting Room (NZ) community project. We currently have 40 Lilliput Libraries operating with another 40 being built/painted. You can find where they are located here.

Funding assistance from Community organisations allowed us to pay for the building materials  while the guys at Otago Corrections Facility and Taieri Blokes' Shed donated their skills and time.  The Lilliput Libraries have been painted by local artists who also donated their time and talents.

As well as supplying paint for our Lilliput artists, Resene has set up a "drop off" book bin in their Resene Color Shop at 172 Crawford Street Dunedin. Donations of books, in good condition, are always welcome.

Books can also be dropped into the "drop off" book bin in the Green Island Post Shop.

Donations to support  the construction of more LilliputLibraries can be made via the Lilliput Libraries Givealittle site.
