WHAT WE DO: Design shop Architecture handles the conceptual design and documentation of a wide variety of building types including new, additions or retrofit throughout the South Island and lower North Island from our Dunedin studio. We handle resource consents, building consents and can arrange building contracts.
Ken Taylor N.Z.C.D.(Arch) L.B.P.(Design 2) M.D.A.N.Z. started Designshop Architecture in 1989. Ken was one of the first in New Zealand to use computer assisted design for architecture. He has many years experience in conceptual design, contract documentation, project management, and "hands on" site construction experience across a variety of project types and sizes. He has obtained various awards for his work. Add in skills in graphic design, videography and photography, and you have a balance of design and practical skills not often found today.
Designshop has no industry ties so we can design without restriction within your budget, brief and site requirements. We run a lean business from a home studio, which means your fees are spent on design, not overheads.
We are told we are relaxed and easy to deal with, whilst offering a professional service.
We offer a range of services you can mix and match to suit your needs.
We think outside the square for solutions and do not slavishly follow architectural fashion. A building is around for fifty plus years so it must stand the test of time in terms of appearance, low maintenance, changes of function and so on.
We don't make a song and dance about green building....we have done it since 1990.
We do understand budgets, and want to get you the best bang for your buck.
We do listen and enjoy getting involved in free and frank discussion. We know building, you know you needs and wishes.
