Emergency Management Otago

Emergencies and disasters can strike at any time so it's important that everyone in the community is prepared.

Emergency Management is an integrated activity that involves many agencies, such as the council, emergency services and social service organisations, to ensure a successful community response.
Emergency Management Officers help promote and enable our communities to be aware of, and resilient to the hazards they may face. This is achieved through activities such as:
Emergency planning with a wide range of community agencies
Training emergency management personnel
Public education on emergency preparedness
Providing facilities and equipment for emergency response
Co-ordinating the response to and recovery from emergency events
