Past Project: Memorial Park Playground

In July 2018, after months of community funding and and grants, construction began on the first stage of the Greater Green Island Recreation Area in Memorial Gardens. The added playground includes train-style play equipment, a carousel, a hamster wheel and more.

The playground opened on the 26th of November 2018 with over 300 people in attendance. Before the ribbons were cut by RSA president Lox Kellas, Green Island Primary School student, Lena, Greater Green Island Committee member, Constable Fred Jansen and Abbotsford Primary School student Leo Reid, the crowd was treated to waiata performances from Green Island Kindergarden and St Peter Chanel School.
